January Sketchy Thursday at Scraptastic Club Blog

It's January's Sketchy Thursday on Scraptastic Club Blog! How is your 2015 so far? Holidays are over and it's time to get some scrapping done, so join us for some sketchy inspiration and play along for a chance to win this month's prize.

For my example I have used the "This Must Be The Place" kit, Add on kit, and the Sentiments Series V.2 Stamp Set. The numbers were perfect for a countdown for a New Years Layout.

I stamped the "celebrate" stamp multiple times around my countdown just for an extra added embellishment in my circle.

I'm Late! *Scraptastic Club Store

It's was just one of those little moments of magic when we were walking around Disney World and for once I had my camera up to snap a couple of photos. The characters do the funniest things when you aren't expecting it so I usually don't get a photo. Like when 5 of the villians snuck up behind me and were looming around my shoulder til I noticed it and it totally freaked me out. LOL! Anyway, this was the White Rabbit who I love and he was running thru the park waving his arms and his Cast Member handler was running behind yelling, "He's Late! He's Late!" Everyone was laughing, it was very cute.

As much as I would like for someone to make a collection that suits each of my photos, like the white rabbit here, it's just not going to happen and sometimes you have to pull together your own collection of goodies. I started with the 6x6" pad of Crush papers by Authentique, added a background paper and Gold Foil Thickers from Dear Lizzy, Gossamer Blue Vellum, Flowers from Crate Paper, a camera cut from Amy Tangerine paper, Sequins from Fancy Pants, Heart confetti from Pebbles...

Supplies:
Dear Lizzy – Serendipity – Royal Gold Foil Foam Thickers, Dear Lizzy – Serendipity – With Love Paper, Authentique – Crush – 6×6 Bundle Paper Pad, Crate Paper - Open Book - Floral Ephemera and Leaves, Freckled Fawn – Paper Clips – Light Blue Long Arrows, Pebbles – We Go Together – Heart Confetti, Amy Tangerine - Stitched - Alternate Paper, Gossamer Blue - On My Desk - Gold Vellum, American Crafts - Be Merry - Journal Black Glitter Foam Thickers, Fancy Pants - True Friend - Confetti Sequins

Using Project Life Cards for layouts

Today I am going to share some inspiration to pull out those cards for pocket pages and use them on your layouts or cards. If you are not a pocket page scrapper, that should not keep you from taking advantage of some of the great products in the Scraptastic Store like these Animal Project Life Cards by Becky Higgins. There are 3x4" and 4x6" Animal cards, and two of each card in this pack that are two sided with another design on the back so you can choose your favorites to use. I know I will need to use that cute hippo more than once! I only got a couple of photos of the zebras because they just would not stop eating and pose for a photo.

Supplies: Becky Higgins – Project Life – Themed Cards Animals, Gossamer Blue – Gramercy Road – Die Cut Tags, Gossamer Blue - Grammercy Road - Die Cut Ephemera, Gossamer Blue – Gramercy Road – Sheridan Place Paper, Gossamer Blue – Gramercy Road – West Seventh Paper, Gossamer Blue – Gramercy Road – Sugar Maple Paper, Gossamer Blue - Get Happy - Enamel Dots,  American Crafts – Be Merry – Journal Black Glitter Foam Thickers

Just take a look at the perfect colors and designs of these Animal Project Life Cards by Becky Higgins., such cute animals too. You can grab an animal card, then an animal print card, and journaling block to put with a couple of your photos and the page creates itself really.  And I was quite excited when I realized that they match one of my favorite collections, the Gramercy Road Collection by Gossamer Blue.

I used two shades of neutral cardstock from my stash and die cut leaves to add a little texture to my background, and after that I just used a couple of 3x4" photos and the 3x4" Animal cards with a couple of little embellishments from Gramercy Road Collection by Gossamer Blue

The Black Glittered Foam Thickers that I chose for the title are a great "go to" black alpha for just about any layout. I like that they are tall thin letters so that if I wanted to spell out a longer title, I would have space.

Vellum and Glitter with my kit from Scraptastic Club

Guess what?! Scraptastic Club has a brand new site with a gorgeous gallery and STORE! It just starting up so the gallery is just now updating but its going to be super cool.

Here are a couple of layouts using this month's This Must be the Place Kit, Add on kit, and Stamp Set from Scraptastic Club. I have really enjoyed this kit with the softer colors and dreamy vellum die cut embellishments. For a couple of my layouts, I felt like adding a little more vellum from my stash and I thought I would share a couple of ideas.

For my first layout I have photos from one of my antiquing trips. I really wanted a layered background so I matted the page multiple times on the edge because it reminded me of paint layers on the old things, is that silly? I was also inspired to use the cute frame image from the This Must be the Place Stamp Set. I stamped and heat embossed the image in white on vellum scraps and cut them out to scatter across the layout with some fussy cut flowers from one of the patterned papers.

I have also added chunky glitter from my stash to the surface of the cork heart embellishments because everything is better with glitter, right?

And for my second layout I have a sunrise photo and I used vellum from my stash and the film strip cut file from the kit to create a sheer layer under the photo.

I had the gorgeous die cut vellum with the gold foil accents and then the vellum background layer, so I decided to continue the look with the sheer glassine envelope that you get in the kit with your flair. I filled it with punched circles and stars from the paper scraps and some glitter that was on my table after glittering up the cork embellishments.

Do you want to build a Snowman? *Scraptastic Club

Sometimes a product can inspire a layout and in this case it definitely did inspire me. First, let me show you the product - a stamp from the "Sweater Weather" Stamp Set from Scraptastic Club. I love stamps so I often look at stamp sets and think about how I would use them. Most people would think of children playing in the snow but I thought of cake pops!

Specifically Olaf Cake Pops. I was watching them make them in one of the bakeries at the Magic Kingdom and I think I might be able to make these! LOL!

I used papers from my January kit and from the Scraptastic Club Store, but I added some plain alphas from my stash that I added Stickles to, and a white doily.

I used a Project Life Embossing Folder from the Scraptastic Club store to create a vellum shaker packet and I put Fancy Pants Oh Deer Sequins inside along with snowflakes that I punched from scraps of white cardstock. I cut two 3x4" pieces of the vellum and embossed one with the card shape then layered them with sequins and punches in the center and machine straight stitched around the perimeter of the vellum sandwich. :) Just a fun quick embellishment for a layout, pocket pages, or a card.

If you have older alphas that just do not look fun, pull them out and add stickles, glitter, paint, or embossing powder to dress them up a bit. I like the way these turned out.

To stamp the phrase on the inside curve of the doily, I applied the stamp to an acrylic block and bent it until it lined up properly. Some acrylic stamps won't behave properly to do this but the Scraptastic ones work just great. Here's a look at the stamp on the block

You & Me *This Must Be the Place Kit -Scraptastic*

I finally get to share my first layout with the "This Must Be The Place" kit, Add on Kit, and the Sentiment Series V.4 Stamp Set. First I have to say that the light colors of this kit are wonderful for really making my photos pop and that was important for these photos because they are pretty light.

The vellum die cuts with bits of vellum are just some of my favorite embellishments in a long time. I added a layer of ivory tissue paper under my photo for a bit of texture, plus I had it on my coffee table from a holiday gift :) I also matted my page with some grey cardstock from my stash.  Since the vellum tag was tucked behind some things, I punched a mickey icon from the end that was tucked behind the other papers.

I used one of the Sentiment Series V.4 stamps and just stamped it over and over on my background and then added some lines of machine stitching.

Add some color!

Pretty much everywhere it's a bit dreary looking in January, so let's add a splash of color to our layouts. Also my photos for this page were a bit dull in color and I wanted to make them look as exciting as I was when we took them. I used the vibrant papers from Heidi Swapp September Skies collection and then added more color to the little wood chip shapes and the water color paper words using various colors of mist.

Supplies: Patterned Paper (Heidi Swapp September Skies Open Air), (Heidi Swapp September Skies Midnight Shadows), (Heidi Swapp September Skies Light Spectrum), Chipboard Alphas (Dear Lizzy Serendipity Soar Woodgrain Letter Stickers), Die Cuts (Dear Lizzy Serendipity Water Color Words) Paper Clips (Freckled Fawn Aqua Arrow Clips), Wood Veneer (Freckled Fawn Stars & Such Wood Chips), Labels (Gossamer Blue Gramercy Road Skinny Labels), Mist or paint

I have to point out that these Dear Lizzy Water Color Words are wonderful because they do not warp even if you spray them alot or use a heat tool to dry them quickly. Of course you can use your mists or paint on all of your wood veneers, but I wanted a sprinkle of different colors like confetti so I used the Stars &Such Wood Chips.

The cheerful stip of floral paper down the side of the page immediately brightens the page and fussy cutting a flower to add layered under the title ties it all together.
