Runoff Rapids and Gang Plank Falls

If these names sound familiar, you must love the Disney World Waterparks as much as my family does. :)  I am still working with the gorgeous summer colors of the Scraptastic Club July Rock Lobster Kit and Add on kit, along with the Rock Lobster Stamp set.  I took full advantage of the fact that the papers in this kit are perfect for our Disney trip photos and scrapped one layout from Blizzard Beach and one from Typhoon Lagoon.

This first one is Gang Plank Falls which is the name of the ride we were starting when my sister snapped this photo. Its just a great ride and the whole park is fantastic. I used the nautical stamps that are in the Rock Lobster Stamp set and first I stamped some anchors. I wiped the stamp across a waterbased Ranger Distressed ink pad, stamped off one time and then stamped on the background for light weathered looking images. Then I stamped the "Adventure this way" stamp using mixed embossing powders to get a color that matched.

My second layout is Runoff Rapids at Blizzard Beach, not that you can really tell by the photo but I wanted a fun title so I figured out which ride it was by the tubes. LOL!

All of my Blizzard Beach pages have things like Snowflakes just for fun and I wasn't really sure where to incorporate them here so I just tucked them into the arrow shapes that I cut from patterned paper, scraped, and stitched to my page.  I also added a little stamping just for fun using the "Out on the Town" Stamp set from Scraptastic Club. First I had to use the "photo op" stamp on the little tab above the photo because its a great font and perfect size for a tab. Then I added a few tiny hearts in pale pink in a few spots and if you look under the camera that I cut out and raised with foam tape, there are some green stamped images that are like a zigzag doodled design. I like the pale ink for a watercolor or white washed effect with this type of a page. Not all stamped images have to be bold so try going subtle with your stamps or layering them in the background for depth.

July Sketchy Thursday at Scraptastic

In case I forgot to explain this, the last Thursday of the month is Sketchy Thursday at Scraptastic's Blog and I  create a Sketch Savvy Sketch for the challenge. Well today I have a sketch that I think most people will enjoy because its easy to adapt to different photo size and embellishments. So visit Scraptastic Club's Blog HERE to see the varied examples from our talented Design Team and then try it yourself for a chance to win a $20 GC from Scraptastic!

Here is the sketch:
For my example I have used the Scraptastic Club July Rock Lobster Kit and Add on kit, along with the Rock Lobster Stamp set. You have to see these fun summer thing - CLICK HERE. I intended to do the 4x4" photos for my layout but that just wasn't going to happen with the cool reflection I have in my photo. I just love the 2 tags in the lower right, of course they can be any shape or embellishment, but it was fun to actually used two tags there.

Now I have to share the image of the Rock Lobster Stamp Set because this whale is tooooo cute and there are alot of good stamps in this set. I stamped him on patterned paper and cut him out. I may be putting whales on lots of pages for awhile. LOL! I also stamped with the large anchor and heat embossing powder. Have you ever mixed embossing powders to make a color that will match your page? Give it a go because I had a blue and a lime green but no turquoise color so I mixed them and it worked perfectly. I have a close up for you a bit lower.

missing this view...

When its been years since our last Disney World vacation - or any other vacation for that matter - scrapping photos really takes you back and makes you miss being in that world. We loved Caribbean Beach Resort but we want to stay at different resorts next time so we wont be back soon, still we did have a great location and great tropical views.

I used my July "Rock Lobster" Scraptastic Club kit with Add on Kit because the papers are mostly from Simple Stories I{heart}Summer and Crate Paper The Pier collections which are ideal for my Disney photos. You will be seeing more over the next week because I LOVE this kit - Check it out HERE.  There was a kraft lace looking sticker and I split it down the center to make two scalloped edges that I could use near the top and at the bottom of the layout. I also cut some leaves from cardstock since my photos are so tropical. I have added some off white/gold twine from The Twinery, but the rest of these goodies are from this really fun kit. I sure could use an afternoon at that resort right now!

Pirates Life - July Scraptastic Club Kit

Here is my first layout with the awesome July Rock Lobster Kit and add on. I am loving this kit and I think you guys will too so check out the whole kit HERE and be sure to look at the stamps because they are way too cute! Actually I will post an image of the stamps below. I used the whale on a layout that I haven't shared yet but for this page I used a couple of the other stamps including the anchor that I stamped using embossing powder. I mixed blue and green to get a sort of aqua or turquoise color.

and this is the super cute Rock Lobster stamp set

2 more layouts with the Scraptastic June kit

I really loved the colors of my June Carry On kit from Scraptastic Club kits and I wanted to share a couple more layouts. First is a using Jana Eubank's awesome Sketch for Sketchy Thursday on the Scraptastic blog. I turned the sketch upside down and chose to use 2 photos rather than three. I just love the way it turned out, and aren't these cork arrows cool! I did add my own alphas because I had run out of a couple of letters from the kit alphas. Yes, Savvy is very helpful at unwrapping gifts, tissue is fun.

Next is a layout inspired by the Getting Angular Challenge on the Scraptastic Blog. I had planned on doing a background with triangles and somehow I ended up with these shapes. I didn't enjoy trying to stitch around in circles but I love the way it looks. These are my super tall Sunflowers - they look awful now because I am letting the seeds dry out for the squirrels. It certainly is hot enough! I used a couple of the fun stamps and just didn't re-ink so it would have a sort of shadowy echo of the design.
