Now for a little inspiration! Don't you just love the little 6x6" paper pads that coordinate with the collections? I like to use them for cards and anything that I am going to punch because the small scale patterns are perfect for smaller pieces. For this layout that I am sharing today, I wanted to make a sort of quilt block background using 1" squares. This is a perfect time to use the Scoot 6x6" paper pad! Scoot is a bright fun collection with some of the cutest stickers! I used several word stickers and stars along with the great alpha stickers.  Do you guys buy the 6x6" paper pads - if so how do you like to use them?

My Sunshine and Sequins

I have recently gotten a few of the New DCWV releases and my total fave stack is the My Sunshine Stack. Its great colors that go with my photos and really great designs. Some are glossy or have glossy accents that really nicely done.

I also had a Disney challenge that was about the Hollywood theme so I found a photo of my husband at Disneys Hollywood Studios (was MGM at the time). He was sitting in front of the Hollywood Brown Derby restaurant while we were waiting for the parade. I had a little recipe card from the Derby that has a recipe for their famous grapefruit cake on the back and I wanted to include it on the page so I made a pocket behind the photo. I also had to play a bit more with that fun cork in the new DCWV 6x6" adhesive Cork stack. I just hand cut chevron/arrow shapes and peeled the backing off - instant cork sticker. I think you guys might get sick of cork showing up on my layouts because this stuff is fun.

Anyway, it's a Hollywood challenge so I figured there must be a bit of glitz, right? Sequins are showing up more in scrapping and since I have a million sequins from my ornament making days and from both of my grandmothers, so I am always wanting to use them. You can just use glue to adhere them, stitch them to the page using a seed bead in the traditional manor, or just stitch right thru them which is my fave way - its faster and you don't have to wait for glue to dry. :) Give it a try sometime.

Kidosaurus Valentines & Giveaway!

Before we talk about the giveaway, ... Don't you just love kids' Valentines! I saw a couple of the papers in the New 6x6" Kidosaurus Stack by DCWV and just had to make Valentines.

The sentiment and dino are all on the page right there waiting to be a card so these were pretty simple. I just cut the dino out and layered it over the background for one. On the other I have cut the sentiment out and attached it inside the card.  Also as promised in yesterday's post I have used the New DCWV 6x6" Adhesive Cork Stack to punch out some little cork hearts and then misted them red.

Cork Stack fun!

Have you seen the NEW 6x6" adhesive Cork Stack by DCWV? I played with it a little bit today and you are going to be seeing me using more cork for certain. LOL! There are thin cork sheets with an adhesive and it can be cut with the die cutting machines like the Sizzix Big Kick and its dies and that is very cool but even better, you can use punches with it as long as you are sensible and don't try to use an ornate punch. How fun are these!?

 

And of course you could use acrylic paints to paint them but guess what? You can mist them! I found that they take the more opaque types of mists better. Just look how cute these little red cork hearts are.  CLICK HERE for a couple of Valentines where I use these cork hearts 

Photo Freedom 2013 page 1

Check it out  - only one month later and I actually have page one done for 2013! LOL! Well, I do not know exactly how often I will do layouts but my first page is sort of the cover page with New Years Eve and day. I use Echo Park Paper's Photo Freedom system for my pocket pages and for this page I used some older papers from the Echo Park Note to Self collection and a couple of stickers from the "Times and Seasons" collection.


I wanted to do some bubbly sequins for the year block but after that I just played with the papers and things til I liked the way it looked. The large pocket is 6x12.5" so you really have to treat it like a layout, and notice I said that it is 12.5" so I like to add a strip to fill that gap, otherwise the panel that you put in there will want to tip to the side and fall out.

Also since I made a pocket for a card behind the photo, I cut a slit with an Xacto knife and that helps to hold the piece right where I want it as well. I have journaled on the back of that little tag.

I had a few gorgeous photos of my good friend, Tammy's, son and they were perfect for the cute boy elements in this collection. Check out the little truck stickers! I love the blue in this collection, if you know me, you know I am always looking for a REAL blue and this collection has a great blue. My favorite of the papers is the argyle, ok maybe the dots papers because they are so fun too.... well check it all out and pick your faves.  I keep thinking of how well it will work with my Disney pages as well.

New View and an Echo Park Bloghop winner!

First I have to share a super cool layout with a photo of my son in his new glasses. He looks so great that I had to snap a photo. I used the new Love Story collection by Echo Park Paper because the colors and embellishments were just perfect. Yes, it is a love themed collection and I LOVE his new glasses :) and just look at this adorable chipboard camera! The hearts and arrows worked out great too.

I chose a kraft background using Kraft Cardstock from Carta Bella and added some black paint splatters. I also cut a tiny pair of glasses from a scrap of cardstock.

Today's question, have you ever used a holiday themed layout for non holiday layouts? if your answer is no, you just have to give it a go.

Hooray for Hollywood

Today's layout was for a challenge at DisneyScrappers and also as an example for a sketch.  The challenge was about scrapping some Hollywood parts of the theme parks and I chose to scrap these old photos of my family going into the front of the Great Movie Ride at MGM/Disneys Hollywood Studios, because it's just such a great replica of Mann's Chinese Theater and this was the first time we rode that ride, it was first thing in the morning and we had it to ourselves so the photos aren't full of the typical crowds that we usually see in that park.

I used various My Mind's Eye papers from the Lost and Found collections. I also used some plain vellum. The sketch had a sunburst element at the top of the photo area and I chose to stick with that type of element but in my head it is the spotlight/searchlight of a Hollywood opening... yeah ok, maybe not but you get the idea. I used some Ranger film strip to make it a bit more filmy. Of course it needed a bit of Hollywood glitz so I added a few little sequins too. This is for Sketch #101 at Sketch Savvy HERE

Do you make more Scrapbook layouts or cards? I couldn't decide if I wanted to share a layout or a card using the new Love Story Collection by Echo Park Paper, so here are both! I don't have alot of photos of my boys with cute little valentines or cupcakes because although they love cupcakes, it's not quite the same with a 20-something boy. LOL! I have been using this collection for everything from everyday photos that have these colors to Disney layouts,  but I just went to take photos of my sister when she and her BFF/Maid of Honor were having a dress fitting and I thought the love theme would be ideal! I used the great animal print for a border with the distressed solid white paper for the background, then added a few of the little cute goodies like the sparkly and the cute silhouette brads, that great chipboard frame and my personal fave, the tiny chipboard camera! There is a bigger one too but this one is my fave. So yeah, this collection is perfect for a BFF page, don't you think?

 

Now for a couple of super fast cards using Love Story. I often make cards for my mom to give out so of course I made some cute Valentines. I have these two cards oriented differently but they are basically the same card. I am not good at doing the same card over and over because I get bored, but if they are similiar, it's still fast and fun. And don't you love these chipboard flowers! To make the plain white envelope a bit less plain, I added a length of border sticker to each and a little stitching.
