Authentique Durable: Scraptastic Store

Today I have two layouts to share using the "Durable" collection by Authentique from the Scraptastic Store. This collection is sort of a guys and vintage cars type of a collection but I don't have that kind of photos and I still love the papers. For my first page I used this collection but added a splash of red paper from the "Playful" collection by Authentique.

I also added a couple of chipboard buttons from "On Trend" by MME. The title letters are white with a grid on them but I wanted them to fade from red to grey so I added ink and then used my heat tool a bit to set them and then wiped them off so they would be lighter.

here is the finished title. I really like the more personalized look.

 

For my second page I wanted to scrap these photos of this amazing dude at Animal Kingdom. 

I used the same collection but added more of the teal colored papers and journaling card. 

I also added a light background paper from the "Grateful" collection by Authentique. 

 I wanted a touch of gold so I used these shaped antiqued gold paperclips by Amy Tangerine and a gold transparency frame from the Open Book collection by Maggie Holmes. So when you are looking at papers to go with your photos, look beyond the theme of the collection to the colors, because you may find the perfect unexpected papers to use.

I interpreted the sketch pretty literally, just flipped it a bit. I wanted to have a linear look for my photos.  I have used the June "Cant Go Home" kit , add on kit. , and Can't Go Home Stamp Set.
If you have not seen these kits, check them out, they are seriously FULL of goodies this month. I have so many pieces left that I can combine with my stash for tons of layouts. Best of all the kits are on SALE!

 

 

I saw this little tag and I really wanted to use the little car from the stamp set so I made sort of a background with the cars. Well, but look at the cute globe stamp! I had to use that too. :) I added the "always remember" stamp and it really finished off the tag. 

 

Can you even stand how awesome these huge acrylic pieces are?! I love the "GO" and the camera so much that I gave them their own block and stitched them to the page.

 

Early Start *June Scraptastic Kit

I have another layout to share using the June Can't Go Home kit, Add on Kit, and digital cut file from Scraptastic Club. These kits are just overflowing with amazing embellishments and best of all they are both on sale! 

For the date across the top and the time below, I added grey ink to the grid thickers and then rubbed the ink off so that it is like a grey stain. I used two shades of ivory cardstock from my stash for the background.

The little airplane is a wood veneer and I wanted it to coordinate with my title so I painted it white and sanded and inked it .

Airplane Selfie - Scraptastic June Kits

4x6 photos? Do you prefer 4x6" photos and multiple photos on a page? This month at Scraptastic the members challenged the designers to use multiple 4x6" photos on a layout using this month's kits and I have to say the results are pretty impressive! I LOVE 4x6" photos and if you are reading this you know I do and that I also like to use multiple photos. I have to admit that four 4x6" photos would really challenge me but you just have to CLICK HERE to see all the amazing pages they created. Here's mine:

 

And it might be a bit of a cheat as I did overlap them, but there was alot of airplane wing in one of the photos. Also I used a blurry photo because the front camera on my old phone was kind of scary, but it's the only selfie we took on the way so it had to be used. I used the super colorful June "Can't Go Home" kit, Add on Kit, Stamp Set, and Digital Cut Files from Scraptastic Club. Seriously this kit is very very colorful and has so many embellishments, it was like Christmas morning opening it up. (If there are any left, you need one... just saying) I chose to go with this awesome background and mostly blues and greens and I really like the refreshing look with our somewhat dull photos so that they weren't overwhelmed.

The airplane tag is great as it is, but I used blue and green inks on the word " vacation" and it turned out pretty cute

 

Next I wanted my title to use these light graph Thickers but they sort of disappeared on this grid background so I used a couple of the little Prima inks that we have gotten in past kits, and I inked them and then wiped the excess ink off with a paper towel. 

Celebrate 50! Scraptastic Store

Today I want to talk about adding that extra something to your layout that makes it just a bit more special. Maybe its sparkle, shine, or a bit of texture without adding bulk. The Scraptastic Store is full of goodies that will take you page to the next level and I want to share some of my favorites with you today. I figured that since it was my 50th birthday photo, I could go a bit over the top with the gold this time.

The title is a Maggie Holmes Confetti transparency and I cut the "50" from the glittery gold of THIS Confetti Patterned paper. The music pattern was perfect too so I added pieces of it as well.

I love the Webster's Pages - #Happy - Gold Stars Foiled Vellum, but it does want to photograph dark instead of gold, trust me, it's a perfect gold foil. I also added Pebbles - Cottage Living - Golden Color Shine for gold splatters. And I just love sequins and enamel dots, have you seen all the colorful star, heart, arrow shaped enamel from Bella Blvd?

And last but certainly not least, I have to tell you that I LOVE these 2 embossing folders: Maggie Holmes - Confetti - Music Background Embossing Folder, and Becky Higgins - Project Life - Desktop Embossing Folder,. I cut my background into 4" squares and embossed 4 blocks with the star folder and 3 with the music notes folder. White on white can be initimidating to me but I just love this look and I will have to try it again soon.

Pinterest Inspiration Monday *Scraptastic Club Blog

It's Pinspiration Monday on the Scraptastic Club Blog and Kathy Martin chose the most wonderful pinterest image to inspire our creations. Check out the blog to see her super cute card!

I was totally inspired by the typography, so I created a title using patterned paper along with the thickers in my kit. I used the super fun "Can't Go Home" kit and Add on kit. If you haven't seen all of this kit, you must check it out HERE, because it is just packed with colorful goodies! I also love the flowers so I used the floral paper from my kit.

 

For my title I used my Silhouette to cut out the word "magical" so that it is welded together. Next I added the word "express" using the chipboard Thickers from the kit and I wanted to also add the word "go!" without it getting confused with the other words so I used one of my little Prima inks from one of our past kits to color the word. I also added gold splatter with Pebbles Golden Color Shine.

Also in the pinterest image there are square spiral holes and I just happen to have that punch so I had to use it along the edge of a tag that I made for the top left.

a Recipe Challenge using Scraptastic June kits

Today I have a Scraptastic Blog Recipe challenge for you. No cooking I promise. Don't let the title scare you -- recipes can be fun, especially when they are scrapbook recipes! Jennie McGarvey and I created layouts using this fun challenge and you can check them out HERE and play along for a chance at the monthly prize. Seriously people no one has posted one yet so be the first! ;)

A scrapbook recipe is when you say use one of these, half of this, 4 of these, etc.  Do you get the idea?  Well, good!  Keep reading and we'll share with our recipe and what we created using these "ingredients".
Okay, so for your project make sure you use:
1 Cardstock
2 Photos
3 Die Cuts
4 Patterned Papers
5 Dimensional Embellishments (Flair, chipboard, acrylic, wood veneer, etc)

For my layout I used the awesome Can't Go Home Kit, Add on kit, and digital cut files. Here is the way I used the recipe: 1 white cardstock from my stash for the digital cut file airplane, 2 photos, 3 Die cuts (geotag, globe, and vellum camera), 4 patterned papers (one is the background light paper that looks like a piece of cardstock), 5 dimensional embellishments (chipboard stars, transparency star stitched on, chipboard arrow, and map brad. I also added my title in chipboard alphas.

 

I have to point out the super cool vellum die cut camera because there are several in the kit, as well as the acrylic version. I used patterned papers behind the cut file for the whoosh behind the plane.
