March Sketchy Thursday at Scraptastic
Its the last Thursday of the month, time for the March Sketchy Thursday challenge on the Scraptastic Club Blog. Check it out HERE for a chance at a gift certificate! I used the March It's My Life kit and Add on kit for my layout. I love this sketch for versatility. I added a photo and changed an element but pretty much followed it exactly. You just have to see what the rest of the Design Team did because the pages are all so different but they are all great. This kit turned out to be exactly what I needed for my photos - just awesome real colors and embellishments to play with.

April Scraptastic Sneak Peeks!
There's a new extra fun new embellishment in the Scraptastic Club kits starting in the month of April! Crazy cute cork! Check out these sneaks - which one will you choose?
I had a really hard time deciding but in the end I chose to get the Let Me Go kit, Add on and stamp set.
See, isn't that a great kit! I cant even stand how cute that little bicycle is! I think these colors are going to be so much fun to work with.

Worth Wondering - oh, I was so close to getting this one because it looked so fresh and springy, but I just couldn't resist the Let Me Go kit.

2 Layouts with the March Scraptastic kit
Today is my blog post for Scraptastic Blog and I wanted to share how much fun I am having with the March It's My Life kit, Add on Kit, and It's my Life Stamp Set! This is a very versatile kit and you have to love all the camera and photo elements, but today I am focusing on the stamps because they sort of inspired my pages. I even used some really not so great photos that I like but they just aren't that clear.
So check out the awesometastic It's My Life Stamp set!
For my first layout I chose to pull out a photo that is very blurry because it's a screenshot taken from a video that my husband shot. I lost most of my photos from the first day of our Disney trip and I really wanted to pull a few photos out of the video. Since there are rarely photos of me, I grabbed this shot that seemed to completely capture ME. I say use those bad photos! What a perfect time to use that "This photo says it all" stamp. Just direct to paper with black ink mixed in with other elements on the page. I added a couple of stars for fun too.
One of my favorite things to do is to make a confetti pocket with the tiny glassine envelopes that the flair comes in.
For my second layout I found a couple of photos that I had instagrammed. Now I really do not like the way the tiny bad quality lenses in phones take photos and tend to distort faces, but its just so much fun to take photos, use filters, and share on instagram, right? So there are always going to be phone photos that I want to scrap. This stamp set basically gave me permission to use some of those less than stellar photos.
For the stamped element at the top of the page I stamped the word bubble in navy and then stamped "insta-fave" in black and cut it out. For the stamped image at the bottom of the page, I stamped the date grid with navy and then added the "instagrammed" word and Filter check box stamp in black. To give it a bit of depth, I stamped the world icon lightly, by stamping a bit of the black ink off on a scrap of paper before stamping on this piece.

Finally using my stash again
I know I started out the year saying that I would be using my stash, but somehow I am not keeping on track for my goal of 50 layouts for this year. The best way I know of using my stash is to do challenges. I decided to play along with the Birds of a Feather March Tweet Sketch HERE. My good friend, Kristin, designed the sketch and I had so much fun playing along! That spot for the title inspired my whole page. I used Crate Paper papers and cut my title from white cardstock.
So check out all the details of this challenge HERE for a chance at the randomly drawn prize at the end of the month.

My new camera *March Scraptastic Club kit
First I have to say that I LOVE my new camera! Its the smallest lightest DSLR - the Canon SL1. It's got a silent focus and the coolest touch screen ever! I haven't really learned alot about it yet, but right out of the box it was so great that I haven't had to really try all that hard. I took a photo of it with my old canon and decided it needed to be a layout.
I used the March "It's My Life" kit, add on kit and stamp set from Scraptastic. This kit is just full of camera and photo themed goodies.
I stamped the meter on a rectangle of vellum and heat embossed with black sparkly embossing powder, then used it under my photo. I also stamped the arrow stamp with the heart circle on vellum and used the same embossing powder, then cut it out.
For a nice banner I cut a triangle border strip and then cut fringe up to about 1/8" from the straight edge, this allows you to bend the border easily for a swag shape. After doing this I decided to machine straight stitch along the upper edge but honestly, it would have been much smarter to stitch before cutting the triangles and fringe.

I have added a couple of star sequins in black and attached with a staple.
Look at these super cool "It's My Life" stamps!

Sleeping Beauty's Castle *Carta Bella Sew Lovely
One more Carta Bella fun page for now. I just love the Sew Lovely Collection and the colors are designs were just what I needed for one of my fave photos. I used alot of white on white and vellum to make the photo stand out more. Plus I just got two new star punches. LOL! And the yellow looking paper behind the photo is actually gold but for some reason, it just didn't photograph well.
