Home after Ike

You might remember that I did a mini album with my Ike photos, but never scrapped them for my album. We had barely been in our house a year so we didn't know the neighbors all that well. Riding out the storm and cleaning up after it was a great way to get to know them. As soon as the winds slowed and rain let up a bit, everyone was out cleaning up the front yards and helping each other.

I used GCD Studios patterned papers as well as some of the cool little metal chipart stamps. And did you know you can use those with polymer clay too? I used the circle to make these cute buttons, then after they were baked, I painted them white and wiped off the excess. I really like the way they turned out. Then I used a different shape to add the design to the GCD Studios round chipboard frame. I will say that I tried to use another brand of chipboard alphas for the title and I was going to do the same stamping and black paint, but they fell apart when I dampened them and tried to stamp them. I didn't realize that would be a problem, but the GCD chipboard takes the stamping very well! So yes, I opted for these nice sticker letters from Studio Calico. :)

I am so glad that we don't live where there are hurricanes. I really like that you used bright colors to symbolize the rainbow after a storm. Very creative. I would have used greens to match the photo.
