I found this tutorial in the July Creating Keepsakes and just had to try it out.
These flowers are created using white tissue paper and spray dyes such as this great Shimmerz Spritz.(*Check out Shimmerz HERE)
I followed their instructions with a few changes. I punched 4 sizes of circles of white tissue paper for mine (1 1/2", 1 1/4", 1", 3/4"). I punched 8 layers of tissue at a time, so 8 of each of those sizes. Then I crumpled a few at a time, seperated, stacked them, stitched a button on to hold them together, and sprayed with Shimmerz Spritz in this red color. I really love that stuff, it's perfect for this and really has a nice shimmer that doesn't come off on my hands or other things.
I did lift the layers and spray from the sides. The tutorial says you can speed drying time by using a heat tool but the BEST way to dry these quickly is to put them on a paper towel and microwave for about 20 seconds - take out and fluff, then microwave for another 20 seconds. Any spray dyes will probably work fine, but this is the only one that I tested.
Here are my flowers and the layout that I created using them. I am participating in the Serendipity Scrapbooks Staycation crop this weekend. I made this layout for a great challenge by Crystal called "Let's go on vacation...to Mexico" - find it HERE.

I love these! I guess if you don't have a lot of colors of that spray you could use colored tissue too. I've never seen these pictures before! great page!
You are channeling my thoughts. I was just wanting to do something with tissue paper flowers, and wow, don't think I can top these! Gorgeous, Suz!
these are PRETTY--i like the kind of vintage look they have.
